Kasauli is a cantonment and town, located in Solan district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The cantonment was established by the British Raj in 1842 as a Colonial hill station, 77 km from Shimla, 65 km from Chandigarh, and 94 km from Ambala Cantt (Haryana), an important Railway Junction of North India and lies at a height of 1,927 metres (6,322 ft).

Kasauli is a small cantonment town off Kalka - Shimla highway. 

Kasauli is the home of the Kasauli Brewery, which is the highest brewery and distillery in the world. Kasauli is where British colonial rulers established the cantonment in 1842 as a hill station and it still retains the old world charms and offers wooded walks and off-beat stays. 

Kasauli has kind of become a local getaway ex-Chandigarh with a number of getaway resorts come up in the area.

Things to do: 

Christ Church Kasauli : Christ Church was previously an Anglican church and one of the oldest churches in North India (built in mid 19th Century). This is a prominent landmark of Kasauli.

Mall Area : The town centre in Kasauli is not a patch on Shimla in terms of experience but still a popular area for tourists to visit in the evening. There are a few shops over half a km.

Sunrise Point / Sunset Point : Sunrise and Sunset points are Popular view points at 1 km from town centre

Mankey Point : A view point at 4 kms from town centre. Its also home to a Lord Hanuman Temple associated with mythology linked to epic Ramayana tale.

Best Time to visit Kasauli: 

Kasauli's at its best between April and November, so this is the best time to visit, as the weather's pleasant and not too cold. Deep winter (January-February) has temperatures hovering between 0°C and 20°C, while peak summer - May and June- sees the mercury hit a high of 32°C.

Having said that, these days days Kasauli has no dearth of visitors all year round. Kasauli has slowly but surely become a haven for tourists looking for short breaks given its connectivity to Delhi and Chandigarh.
