Monsoon is almost upon us. If you, like us, are in Mumbai you are either dreading the rains or are dying to take it all in! But Mumbai rains can be as romantic as they are notorious and these coming months could well be a breeze. If you are in Mumbai anytime over the next few months, these are five places you absolutely must visit during the rains.

Here's a list of 5 places that you absolutely must visit during rains:

1. Marine Drive

Marine Drive, also known as the Queen’s Necklace is a favorite among Mumbaikars at all times of the day and during all seasons. But it is in the monsoons that Marine Drive really springs to life. The dramatic waves, the breathtaking skyline, the pitter-patter of the rain all make Marine Drive one of the most beautiful places in the city during the rains.

2. Bayview Cafe

Unless you are rich enough to afford a table at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bayview Cafe, the rooftop restaurant of Hotel Harbour View, near Appolo Bandar, Colaba is one of the few places that offers majestic views of the harbour.

3. Powai Lake

Take a boat ride in Powai Lake, with spectacular views of the lush green hills that surround it. Or simply take a walk along the very well-paved promenade that hugs most of the lake.

4. Bandra Bandstand

Home to Bollywood’s who’s who, Bandra Bandstand offers a magnificent view to the Arabian Sea. Climb up to the Castella De Aguada fort to get a better view of the city and the enormously giant sea or simply walk along the restructured Bandra promenade with cool monsoon winds flowing in full vigor.

5. Worli Sea Face

The sea face at Worli is much older than the three promenades at Bandra — Bandstand, Carter Road and Reclamation — but is far less hip thanks to the absence of shops and cafes. In the south end of the Sea Face stands the government-owned Aarey Dairy and along the entire stretch are apartment blocks that are home to some of the richest folks in the city.
