Landscapes from a fairytale, muse lands for literature, sceneries from movies sets, sunsets borrowed from a daydream and lands amongst clouds. All these are here and very real. And they are even closer than you thought. Below are the real unexplored places where you can get away from the crowd and have a good time.

1. Wildflower Hall, Himalayas, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Located 8,250ft above sea level in the Himalayas, Wildflower Hall sits in 22 acres of virgin pine and cedar woods. The former residence of Lord Kitchener, the hotel has been restored to reflect the glamour of the colonial era.

Don’t miss out on the Oberoi Spa, which has appeared on many ‘Best’ lists, and offers Ayurvedic, Asian and Western therapies.

2. Neeralaya, Raison, Himachal Pradesh

Built on the banks of the Beas, Neeralaya is located in the village of Raison, just off the main Kullu-Manali road. The resort is dotted with three mountain villas, a thatched dining shack, a breakfast gazebo, a kitchen garden and vast landscaped gardens that offer panoramic views of your surroundings.

Each of the villas – made from recycled timber, slate and stone - has bedrooms, a living and dining area, a kitchen and plenty of outdoor seating options.

3. The Blackbuck Lodge, Velavadar National Park, Gujarat

The Blackbuck Lodge sits on the banks of the river that runs through Velavadar Blackbuck National Park. The 70 acre property has 14 villas (each with an open air shower), and a restaurant that offers the local Kathiawadi cuisine.

The focus, of course is on nature and bird watchers and wild life enthusiasts will have plenty to look forward to. History buffs too, will be able to explore the Saurashtra country-side.
